Photos from the Lakers 99-91 season opening loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Pau Gasol led the Lakers with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Dwight Howard had 19 points and 10 rebounds, but was only 3-14 from the free-throw in a pitiful display from the charity stripe.
Many complaints were also lofted at Mike Brown’s (and Eddie Jordan’s) Princeton offense, which was a contributing reason to the fact that Steve Nash ended up with just seven points and four assists. He was largely missing in the offense, a strange sight for a point guard used to having the ball in his hands as he makes plays.
Kobe Bryant, playing on an injured foot, chipped in 22 points on 11-14 shooting. Kobe was fourth in the league in free-throw attempts last season, yet did not have a single attempt. The Lakers as a team shot 12 for 31 from the line (38%).
Next game is today, versus the Portland Trailblazers.
